Nikola receives an additional USD 16.3 million in regulatory funding

Funding

  • Nikola Motor Company (Nikola), a developer of heavy-duty battery-electric (BEV) and fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) trucks, has been awarded USD 16.3 million in regulatory grant funding. The funding is intended to support seven open-network hydrogen refueling stations.

  • The funds stemmed from several sources including the Sacramento Metro AQMD (USD 7 million), the South Coast AQMD (USD 4.4 million), the EnergIIZE West Sacramento California Energy Commission (USD 3.3 million), and the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (USD 1.6 million).

  • Together with the USD 41.9 million grant awarded by the California Transportation Commission (CTC) in July 2023 , the company has now received a total of USD 58.2 million in regulatory funding within the last 30 days.

  • Nikola plans to develop an open network of commercial hydrogen refueling stations beginning in California and then across North America.
