EarlyBird Education, the developer of a game-based early literacy assessment platform, raised USD 1.5 million in a seed funding round from Amplify Capital, Flare Capital Partners, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Solve Innovation Future.
The funds will be used for the commercial launch of the EarlyBird early literacy assessment platform in the fall of 2021, and further product development.
The company raised USD 1 million in a previous funding round toward platform development and a two-year validation study.
Founded in 2020 by Carla Small, Nadine Gaab, and Yaacov Petscher, EarlyBird Education is the developer of an early literacy assessment platform containing a 20-minute game that assesses children in grades PreK-3 while they play. The solution helps teachers, parents, pediatricians, and other clinicians identify and support children at risk for dyslexia and other reading difficulties even before they learn to read.
The cloud-based technology platform incorporates a screening assessment, customized action plans, and intervention resources for teachers. The platform was developed and scientifically validated at Boston Children’s Hospital in partnership with faculty at the Florida Center for Reading Research.
