Zipline, a drone-based delivery services provider, has partnered with cookie delivery company Chip Cookies to deliver cookies by drones to the latter's customers.
The exact locations of the service are not yet made available, but Chip Cookies currently has 10 storefront locations in Utah and Idaho.
The drones will hover at an altitude of 300 feet, lowering a bit to drop a box of cookies above the recipient's backyard. The box is connected to a parachute, enabling it to descend slowly to the ground.
Analyst QuickTake: As per the looks of the partnership, it seems that Zipline will be using its original version of “P1” drones for cookie deliveries, instead of its latest P2 drone delivery system. The original version dispatches cargo using a parachute vs the droids dispatched in the latest version. The deal anyhow adds Chip Cookies to Zipline’s growing list of partners, among companies such as Jumia, Sweetgreen, and Pagliacci Pizza that have joined forces for non-medical-related deliveries.
