Verdagy, a company manufacturing innovative hydrogen electrolyzers, has raised USD 73 million in a Series B funding round led by Temasek and Shell Ventures. This brings the company's total funding to USD 117 million.
The company intends to use the funding to make its industrial-sized electrolyzers. Verdagy stated that its advanced alkaline electrolyzer, which consumes 20 MW of electricity, will reduce the cost of green hydrogen and encourage companies currently using gas-based hydrogen to switch sources.
The company also stated that it intends to open a 100,000 sq ft factory in Silicon Valley in Q1 2024.
Analyst QuickTake: Verdagy has developed hydrogen electrolyzers, which use the company’s proprietary water electrolysis technology, “eDynamic,” leveraging the world’s largest membrane-based electrochemical cell. Prior to this funding round, the company raised USD 25 million in February 2022. The company planned to use the funds to scale up its activities and develop its electrolyzer technology.
