Anthropic, a provider of generative AI models and applications, has received a strategic investment of USD 100 million from the South Korean wireless telecommunications operator, SK Telecom (SKT).
As part of the strategic investment, SKT will work together with Anthropic to jointly develop a multilingual large language model (LLM) that will enable four Global Telco AI Alliance members, including Deutsche Telekom, e&, and Singtel to offer customized AI developments to their users. The languages covered by the LLM include Korean, English, German, Japanese, Arabic, and Spanish.
Anthropic will provide SKT with the technology required to fine tune and optimize the basic macro language model. Jared Kaplan, the co-founder and chief science officer of Anthropic, will lead the product roadmap and lead the direction of the customization.
