Tonal, the developer of a smart weight-based home exercise system, has partnered with the department store chain Nordstrom to enhance its physical footprint.
Tonal will have mini outlets inside 40 Nordstrom locations across 20 US states rolling out this month, bringing its total store count to roughly 55 stores (from 15). This includes 12 states in which Tonal does not have physical stores as of yet.
In comparison, Lululemon began selling its screen-only smart mirrors across all its 506 stores in the US, starting with 18 selected locations last November. However, smart mirrors such as ProForm Vue and NordicTrack Vault are available for online ordering only.
Customers can book appointments, try out the devices and demos, and make purchases. Its devices retail for USD 2,995, on par with the NordicTrack Vault, but priced higher than similar weights-included smart mirrors such as Tempo and ProForm Vue (both priced below USD 2,500).
Tonal’s smart home exercise system comprises a large screen with two mechanical arms on the sides that allow users to perform exercises such as deadlifts, bench presses, and squats. Besides strength training, users can use Tonal to take up other classes like yoga, cardio, and HIIT, either live or on-demand.
