Sierra Space and Redwire partner to develop biotech experiment platform for commercial space station

Partnerships

  • Sierra Space and Redwire have announced a partnership to develop a biotech experiment platform to be installed on a Sierra Space commercial space station module.

  • The module, Large Integrated Flexible Environment (LIFE), will be launched later this decade for commercial pharmaceutical and other biotech research.

  • Redwire will provide equipment for the platform, including the Advanced Space Experiment Processor, which hosts biotech experiments, and will start delivering hardware in the fourth quarter of this year.

  • The focus of the experiment platform will be on crystallization experiments using the microgravity environment to grow larger crystals to determine their structure for pharmaceutical applications.
