Sierra Space and Redwire have announced a partnership to develop a biotech experiment platform to be installed on a Sierra Space commercial space station module.
The module, Large Integrated Flexible Environment (LIFE), will be launched later this decade for commercial pharmaceutical and other biotech research.
Redwire will provide equipment for the platform, including the Advanced Space Experiment Processor, which hosts biotech experiments, and will start delivering hardware in the fourth quarter of this year.
The focus of the experiment platform will be on crystallization experiments using the microgravity environment to grow larger crystals to determine their structure for pharmaceutical applications.
