XR headset manufacturer Varjo entered a multi-million dollar agreement to provide its XR-3 Focal Edition headsets for the US Army's Reconfigurable Virtual Collective Air Trainer (RVCT-A) initiative. This initiative by the US Army aims to offer virtual training modules that are both cost-effective and easily transportable, with a primary focus on training pilots of Apache, Chinook, and Blackhawk helicopters.
The RVCT-A modules, equipped with Varjo's headsets, will train pilots using actual aircraft controls, instead of VR controllers. The broader context of this partnership is Cole Engineering’s USD 500 million contract to deliver RVCT modules to the US Army, which also includes a Ground version for infantry training.
