Refiberd, a California-based waste sorting company using AI and advanced imaging technology, has raised USD 3.4 million in seed funding.
Founded in 2020, Refiberd aims to develop a solution that can accurately sort textile waste and identify its composition. The company's technology combines a hyperspectral imaging system with AI to accurately detect fiber composition and the presence of contaminants in textile waste. The company claims that its sorting technology can help divert up to 70% of the textile waste stream to recyclers.
