Pixee Medical has launched Shoulder+, a mixed reality (MR) navigation tool designed to assist surgeons in shoulder implant surgeries. The technology aims to minimize complications like implant malposition and the need for revision surgeries by offering real-time 3D positioning data of the implant.
Shoulder+ operates using MR glasses, presenting surgeons with real-time, precise information about the implant's 3D positioning during the procedure. This data is superimposed on the patient's field of view, enabling surgeons to visualize bones beneath the skin. The system has secured the CE marking, indicating its compliance with European Union standards, and is awaiting FDA 510(k) clearance in the US.
France-based Pixee Medical specializes in creating surgical navigation tools that pinpoint objects in 3D space. Its platform primarily serves knee, hip, and shoulder replacements. The company’s initial product, Knee+, has been used in over 4,500 surgeries across 15 countries.
