Salient wins NOAA Grant to develop advanced water availability forecasting

Funding

  • Salient Predictions, an ocean and land surface-based climate risk analytics provider, received an undisclosed Small Business Innovation Research Grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

  • The funds will be utilized to develop water availability predictions, ranging from two to 52 weeks.

  • The funds would support Phase I of the project concerning subseasonal to seasonal (S2S) water forecasts in California's Central Valley. In addition, Salient expects to integrate a high-resolution hydrologic model that estimates soil moisture, evapotranspiration, and stream flow for improved forecasts.
