Anthropic launches Claude Pro; a paid plan for its GenAI chatbot

Product updates

  • Anthropic, a provider of GenAI models and applications, has launched a paid version of its chatbot called Claude. The new offering, Claude Pro, is priced at USD 20 (or GBP 18) per month and is available in the US and UK.

  • Claude Pro offers priority access when the bot is busy, early access to new features, and the ability to send more messages.

  • The key benefits of Claude Pro include 5x more usage compared to the free tier, which means users can send more messages in a shorter period of time. Anthropic also ensures that users will receive at least 100 messages every eight hours, with warnings when they have 10 messages remaining.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Anthropic initially released Claude in March, touting it as a bot that is more user-friendly and less likely to generate harmful content. With the introduction of Claude Pro, Anthropic is now in direct competition with OpenAI’s USD 20 per month ChatGPT Plus plan. Microsoft also recently launched an enterprise version of Bing Chat with enhanced privacy features for businesses.
