Connected fitness equipment manufacturer Peloton has recently completed the acquisition of three startups, Otari, Aiqudo, and Atlas Wearables, to complement its talent and technology.
Otari (reportedly acquired in late 2020) develops interactive workout mats with screens; Atlas Wearables (acquired in November 2020) develops fitness-oriented smartwatches; and Aiqudo (acquired last month) develops AI-powered digital voice assistant systems.
The company also acquired intellectual property from Peerfit, a digital health company, in November 2020.
The deals should allow the company to expand and improve its existing offering. The acquisition of Aiqudo, for instance, will aid Peloton in integrating voice assistance into its fitness equipment.
The details of the individual deals were not disclosed; however, Peloton had reportedly paid USD 78.1 million in total for acquisitions during a three-month period ending in December 2020 (excluding the amount paid for Aiqudo, which closed this year).
Peloton offers bikes and treadmills to its members and produces exercise video content. It provides users with the option of taking on-demand workout classes led by instructors from home as well as live-streamed classes in a group setting.
