Climavision, a provider of radar-as-a-service solutions, has completed the installation of its weather radar system in Lawrence County, Alabama, to fill a low-level coverage gap in the Appalachian Plateau region. The new radar will go live this month.
Climavision’s X-Band weather radar network aims to provide higher resolution and visibility of adverse weather events in the lower atmosphere, supplementing neighboring NEXRAD S-Band radars. The company’s insights intend to support commercial forecasters and emergency officials to proactively respond to volatile weather events.
The company aims to remedy other low-level visibility gaps in the US, with 30 radars expected to be operational by the end of 2023 and plans to scale the network to over 200 radar systems in the future.
