Sui, a layer-1 blockchain initially developed by Mysten Labs and the Sui Foundation, announced the launch of zkLogin, an authentication solution for dApps.
zkLogin does not require users to link Web3 wallets for dApp logins; instead, it utilizes conventional Web2 social logins like Google and Facebook. Furthermore, it harnesses zero-knowledge (zk) proof technology for credential verification.
Analyst QuickTake: The new feature eliminates a significant adoption hurdle for dApps among the general public, as it functions similarly to traditional methods of logging into applications. Otherwise, users would need to create wallets for logging in, a process that can be complex and time-consuming. Other technologies that have reduced adoption complexities include multi-party computation (MPC) technology, which eliminates the necessity for security phrases to be generated for non-custodial wallets.
