Pyrum partners with Continental to insert rCB into tires

Partnerships

  • Pyrum Innovations, a Germany-based tire pyrolysis company, has partnered with Continental, a German multinational automotive parts manufacturer, to incorporate recovered carbon black (rCB) into the latter's Super Elastic solid tires. Pyrum would supply rCB by breaking down end-of-life tires via a pyrolysis process.

  • The partners expect to achieve higher stability, strength, and durability of tires by adding rCB into rubber compounds. In addition, Continental would support Pyrum in optimizing pyrolysis recycling during the partnership, aligning with the former’s goal of 100% sustainable materials in its tire products by 2050.

  • Founded in 2007, Pyrum Innovations AG is a German recycling company that develops recycling plants based on its patented thermolysis process. Pyrum aims to reduce the risks of the traditional pyrolysis process through the use of its precise temperature and pressure control technology.
