Kar-go, an autonomous delivery vehicle (ADV) developed by the Academy of Robotics, has marked its first test run in the ADV space by delivering medical supplies from a pharmacy to a care home in Hounslow, Greater London. This also marked the first test delivery run by an ADV in the UK.
The delivery was made adhering to current regulations in the UK, which require a safety driver on board, while its Command Hub provided extra security.
Kar-go utilizes both AI and driverless technology and can travel up to 60 miles with a single charge. The company’s team can access remote monitoring and supervision of the vehicles via its Command Hub, providing additional security to its operations. It uses cameras and software logs to determine the vehicle’s position, allowing remote drivers to monitor and control the vehicles.
