BioConsortia expands into Brazil with microbial bio-control products and nitrogen-fixing technology

Geographic expansion

  • BioConsortia, a California-based company developing biofertilizer, pest management, and biostimulant products, has expanded into Brazil to bring microbial bio-control products and nitrogen-fixing technology to the country.

  • The company has also begun registering its seed-applied products and made key appointments, including a business development lead and additions to the regulatory team.

  • The company sees potential for growth in Brazil, where the adoption of biological products has reportedly increased over the past decade, with Brazilian farmers leading the way in their use of key crops such as soybeans, corn, sugar cane, and cotton.

  • Analyst QuickTake: While BioConsortia announced its largest field trial program to date in Asia, Latin America, Europe, and North America, it also has made notable efforts to expand into Brazil by expanding its partnerships and advancing its portfolio of biological products. This includes closing an internal financing round to support expansion into new territories, including Brazil, in April 2023 and partnering with the Mosaic Company to develop nitrogen-fixing microbial solutions for row crops, including those in Brazil.
