Redwood Materials, a Nevada-based e-waste recycling startup, has acquired Redux Recycling, a lithium-ion battery recycling company, to accelerate Redwood's expansion into Europe. Consequently, Redwood announced that 70 technical staff of Redux, including chemical engineers, metallurgists, and material scientists, will join the former's European operations.
Redwood expects to utilize Redux’s recycling facility in Bremerhaven, which has strategic proximity to one of the largest vehicle import ports in Europe. The facility has an annual processing capacity of 10,000 tons to recycle EV batteries and other consumer devices.
The acquisition was the second foray of Redwood to Europe since the company acquired a small UK recycling technology company in 2022.
