CarbonBuilt, a manufacturer of low-carbon concrete, has commercially produced a 100% ordinary portland cement (OPC)-free binder, which is viable with existing concrete manufacturing equipment and the company's CO2 sequestration technology.
CarbonBuilt has tested the feasibility of its binder with the company’s first commercial partner, Blair Block. The latter has successfully used the cement-free binder and retrofitted CO2 curing chambers to produce the blocks during production runs without additional process adjustments.
CarbonBuilt and Blair Block expect to produce low-carbon blocks at commercial volume in early 2024.
