Geographic expansion

  • Ascend Elements, a cathode material-recycling company, partnered with SK Ecoplant, a South Korean construction company, to form a joint venture for building a battery recycling pretreatment plant in Kentucky. The plant is estimated to require an investment of USD 65.8 million.

  • The partnership expects to build the facility to produce 12,000 tons of black mass slated to be operational from January 2025. SK Ecoplant will own 64% of the joint venture, with an 11% stake owned by TES, SK Ecoplant's e-waste processing subsidiary, and the remaining 25% by Ascend Elements.
