OpenAI is reportedly considering selling shares in the company, which could significantly increase its valuation from USD 29 billion to an estimated range of USD 80 billion-90 billion.
This potential move would allow existing employees to sell their shares rather than the company issuing new ones.
Analyst QuickTake: In April, OpenAI secured over USD 300 million in funding, valuing the company at USD 29 billion, with investments from Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Thrive, and K2 Global. OpenAI had also received a substantial investment from Microsoft earlier that year, estimated at around USD 10 billion. OpenAI, in which Microsoft holds a 49% stake, is projected to reach USD 1 billion in revenue for 2023.
