Pivot Bio, a California-based startup providing biofertilizers for cereal crops, has announced plans to build a 47,000 sq ft facility in Hazelwood, Missouri, for microbial production of nitrogen. This is reportedly the first time such technology has been commercialized. The company plans to invest more than USD 20 million in the project and bring 41 new jobs to the area.
Additionally, according to the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the new facility is expected to enhance the company's ability to research, test, and develop product applications. Moreover, the Missouri Works program will help Pivot Bio expand and retain its workforce by providing access to capital through withholdings or tax credits for job creation.
