Google announced Assistant with Bard, a new voice assistant that combines Bard's generative and reasoning capabilities with the personalized help of Assistant. It is currently in the early experiment stage and will roll out to testers in the coming months on Android and iOS.
Assistant with Bard floats as a conversational overlay above the screen and accepts text, voice, or image input. It can access Gmail, Google Drive, and Docs to answer questions and can also help with actions like writing social media posts based on visual cues.
The key benefits of Assistant with Bard are its ability to provide personalized help by accessing user data, its intuitive and interactive interface, and its capability to perform tasks on behalf of the user, making it more than just a voice assistant.
Analyst QuickTake: The integration builds upon Bard's September update, which introduced "Bard extensions," allowing it to work with Google's apps and services, including Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, YouTube, and Google Flights and Hotels. Users who have already permitted Bard access to their Gmail, Drive, and Docs won't need to do so again when using Assistant with Bard.
