ABB and Altilium partner to advance battery-recycling projects

Partnerships

  • Altilium (formerly Altilium Metals), a London-based CleanTech startup, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ABB, a leader in electrification and automation, to reinforce battery-recycling plants in Europe with automation, electrification, and digital solutions. Altilium intends to use these green processing technologies to accelerate the production turnaround and reduce the carbon footprint of recycling EV batteries.

  • Altilium expects to utilize ABB’s Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) digital applications for its UK pilot battery recycling scheme.

  • The partners will also extend their collaboration toward Altilium’s commercial plants including the European Solvent Extraction-Electrowinning (SX-EW) facility in Eastern Europe in 2024 and the plant in Teesside, UK, in 2026.
