WeatherOptics, a short-term weather intelligence solution provider, has launched a set of predictive wildfire products: the Wildfire Conditions Index and the Wildfire Spread Index. These can be integrated into its existing WeatherOptics products, including RightRoute API, Maps API, Impact API, and the Insight Portal.
The Wildfire Conditions Index analyzes the probability of a wildfire at a given location, considering vegetation flammability, weather, and proximity to active large wildfires. This index has been developed to deliver a six-day risk prediction using a 0–10 score. It also provides an early warning for assets, property, or populations that are at risk for wildfire formation.
The Wildfire Spread Index provides indications of how an active wildfire will spread due to weather and soil conditions for the next 24 hours using a 0–10 risk score. It delivers real-time data about the wildfire such as name, level of containment, level of suppression, and overall severity while tracking the spread.
WeatherOptics aims to provide actionable insights supported by visualized data through these indexes. The company expects to market them to enterprise businesses, government agencies, and emergency managers to safeguard their operations and communities.
