Svante, a Canadian carbon capture startup, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Samsung Engineering, a specialized engineering, procurement, and construction company, to develop commercial carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) projects in Asia and the Middle East.
The projects would focus on carbon-heavy industries such as cement, steel, hydrogen, and fertilizer by using Svante's solid sorbent-based carbon capture filter technology. The companies will partner to establish an integrated project delivery model.
Additionally, Samsung intends to support Svante to discover design iterations for the latter’s post-combustion carbon capture machines.
In December 2022 , Samsung Engineering also participated in Svante’s Series E funding round, acting as an investor and a strategic partner for Svante.
