French precision fermentation startup Bon Vivant has raised EUR 15 million (~USD 15.9 million) in seed funding led by Sofinnova Partners and Sparkfood, with participation from Captech Santé, Alliance for Impact, High Flyers Capital, Kima Ventures, Founders Future, and Picus Capital.
The funding will be used to scale production capacity, obtain regulatory clearances to commercialize its animal-free milk proteins and open a new lab in Lyon to develop samples for prospective clients.
Bon Vivant uses biotechnology to reprogram yeast microorganisms to produce animal-free milk proteins with a lower environmental footprint than traditional dairy. The company aims to launch its milk proteins in the US market in 2025, focusing on B2B customers in the foodservice sector.
