Alpaca, a stock trading API provider, has partnered with SBI Group, a Japanese financial services firm, to support its business expansion plans and facilitate financial institutions on the clearing and trade execution of US securities in Asia.
Alpaca has also raised USD 15 million in convertible note financing from SBI Group, bringing its total funding up to USD 120 million.
The company intends to use the funds in pursuing growth plans with collaborative business development efforts from SBI Group and introduce innovative products in Asia.
Analyst QuickTake: Within the Investment and financial management services space, Alpaca’s USD 15 million convertible note financing follows Upvest’s EUR 30 million (~USD 31.9 million) raised yesterday, which was also earmarked to support regional expansion plans and expand product offerings.
