EHang receives CAAC-type certification for EH216-S aircraft

Product updates

  • EHang, a leading autonomous aerial vehicle technology company, reported that its EH216-S has obtained the type certificate (TC) issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. This is the world's first TC for an unmanned electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL).

  • This demonstrates that the EH216-S’s design complies with the CAAC’s safety standards and airworthiness requirements. As such, the EH216-S is now qualified for conducting passenger-carrying UAV commercial operations. The company is now focusing on launching commercial operations of the EH216-S.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The report of EHang’s type certification comes after the company’s aircraft was approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for Unmanned Aircraft Cloud System (UACS) trial operations in August 2023 . The company also recently invested in Shenzhen Inx Technology (Inx) in September 2023 , a China-based solid-state lithium metal battery technology company. EHand intends to cooperate with Inx on the research, development, and production of solid-state lithium metal batteries for EHang AAV products.
