ACE Green Recycling (ACE), an innovative recycling platform for battery materials, has signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the US Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). They intend to develop the ACE's lithium-ion battery recycling technology for recycling graphite, lithium-iron phosphate (LFP), and other cathode-active materials (CAMs).
NREL expects to evaluate and commercialize ACE’s proprietary technology for upcycling graphite to battery-grade materials. Through the partnership, NREL will provide cell production, modeling, analysis, and other advanced tools to demonstrate ACE technology at NREL's facility in Colorado.
The research agreement aims to identify optimal recycling parameters for LFP and graphite that will optimize the batteries made from recycled materials using ACE's technology.
