Midjourney, a generative AI text-to-image platform, has added a new upscaling feature to its services. The feature can be found in the v5 version of Midjourney and Niji, its manga version.
The upscaling feature includes 2x and 4x options and aims to maintain as much detail as possible from the original image. However, it cannot correct defects or issues in old images.
Users can apply the upscaling options to previously generated photos and choose between 2k and 4k resolutions. Despite some minor bugs, such as occasional black or corrupted images, users can now retrieve images in larger sizes without the need for post-generation editing.
Analyst QuickTake: Midjourney appears to be expanding its product features, where it introduced Private Journeys, a mobile app that allows users to generate images using MidJourney's text-to-image AI generator. Notably, Midjourney competitor Stability AI launched a similar feature in April this year, which also offers image upscaling capabilities.
