Circ, a Virginia-based startup that recycles textile waste, has partnered with Mara Hoffman, a sustainable luxury designer, to create a garment using Circ's lyocell made from recycled textile waste. The dress designed by Mara Hoffman contains 50% cellulosic pulp derived from recycled polycotton textile waste and 50% Forest Stewardship Council -certified cellulosic pulp.
The designer announced its ongoing partnership with Circ to transition from virgin Lyocell to Circ’s Lyocell in her collections over the next three years. This partnership was the first collaboration between Circ and luxury fashion to increase circularity in the industry.
The dress includes a ‘Digital Care Label’ by Circ investor Avery Dennison, a materials science company, that informs the product’s waste footprint to consumers. The label also encourages dress owners to return the garment to the Hoffman retail store for recycling by Circ.
