General Motors' autonomous car subsidiary Cruise has suspended its driverless operations across the nation, following the suspension of its driverless robotaxi deployment permit in California. The California Department of Motor Vehicles and the California Public Utilities Commission suspended the company's driverless robotaxi deployment permits citing safety concerns and misrepresentations about its vehicles.
The company intends to pause the driverless operations across all its fleets while it reflects on its internal processes and works towards regaining public trust.
Cruise will, however, continue its human-supervised autonomous vehicle operations with safety drivers behind the wheel.
