Ayana Bio expands Plant Cell Advantage ingredient portfolio

Product updates

  • Ayana Bio, a plant cell culture technology company that produces bioactives for foods, supplements, and beverages, has launched its new Plant Cell Advantage (PCA) health and wellness ingredients, including Dog Rose PCA, Hedge Nettle PCA, and Sage PCA.

  • Replacing dog rose, hedge nettle, and sage in traditional supplements and foods, the ingredients provide joint health and immunity (Dog Rose PCA), promote healthy inflammation and antioxidants (Hedge Nettle PCA, Sage PCA), and aid in cognitive support (Sage PCA).

  • The new portfolio will be debuted at the SupplySide West conference this week.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The PCA portfolio also includes plant-cell cultured lemon balm and echinacea for dietary supplement formulations, launched in April 2023 . The company is also focusing on the production of cell-cultured cocoa bioactives , for which it allocated USD 3 million in January 2023. As part of its commercialization efforts, the company opened a new lab in Boston's Seaport District in July 2023 and partnered with Robertet in May 2023 to develop prototypes for functional gummies using lemon balm and echinacea.
