Overair, a US-based company developing eVTOL aircraft, and its strategic partner Hanwha Systems, a subsidiary of defense electronics company Hanwha Aerospace, have signed a letter of intent (LOI) as well as two memoranda of understanding (MOU) with several Korean companies to accelerate advanced air mobility (AAM) in the region.
First, Overair signed an LOI with HeliKorea, an air transportation company, where the latter agreed to purchase 20 Butterfly aircraft. The aircraft will be used for medical, executive, and cargo transport, as well as firefighting, high-voltage power line inspection, and other applications.
Second, Overair signed an MOU with Daewoo E&C, a South Korean construction convergence innovator, to jointly develop a series of AAM networks across East South Asian markets.
Finally, the company signed an MOU with the Korean Police to integrate AAM within the agency. As such, the latter’s Human Resources Development Institute will develop training programs to support vertiport development and AAM deployment.
