Ecorobotix, a Switzerland-based startup manufacturing AI-based precision farming robots with a low environmental impact, has launched its high-precision spraying robot, ARA, in North America, with its initial launch in Canada.
The company sold two machines to Delfland and Ferme Hotte & Van Winden, two of Canada’s leading vegetable growers, both directly supplying US cities like New York and Boston. Both companies plan to use ARA to apply different kinds of phytosanitary products (herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides). The companies noted that by using these spraying robots, they can achieve substantial savings of 70%–95% on phytosanitary products and repay for the ARA within one to two cropping seasons. They also highlighted that the use of these robots leads to increased crop yields.
Analyst QuickTake: Ecorobotix's expansion into North America follows its recent USD 52 million funding round, a part of which is planned for the expansion of the company's global presence, beginning with the Americas. This expansion also aligns with the company's growth strategy , which includes the addition of new distributors in Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the Czech Republic, with expansion plans across Europe and South America in 2023.
