Reconomy acquires Ecosurety’s WEEE and Batteries Compliance Schemes

M&A

  • Reconomy, a provider of outsourced waste management, recycling services, and environmental compliance, acquired UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Batteries Compliance Schemes from Ecosurety, a producer responsibility compliance scheme for quality recycling practices. The acquisition would add producers and distributors to Reconomy's own compliance scheme Valpak's client list.

  • The WEEE scheme facilitates businesses to track and categorize their waste, providing financial support for waste treatment exceeding five tonnes. The battery scheme aids minor and major battery producers and distributors to report and manage battery waste in line with UK recycling targets.
