Micron, a company that manufactures DRAM components and modules and NAND Flash, has launched 128 GB DDR5 RDIMMs for servers, addressing the demand for high-capacity memory driven by large-language models (LLMs) in GenAI and increasing CPU core counts.
Micron's new RDIMMs utilize 32 GB monolithic DDR5 dies with a 45%+ increase in bit density, operating at up to 8000 MT/s. The dies, fabricated using 1β technology, offer improved energy efficiency (24% more than 3DS TSV alternatives).
It also offers faster AI training times and reduced power consumption by optimizing data input buffers and I/O circuits.
