AgriTech North, a Canadian hydroponic vertical farming company, has been announced as a recipient of CAD 100,000 (~USD 73,000) in funding from the Northern Ontario Development Program (NODP) of the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor).
The company intends to use the funds to purchase and install a new tri-generation solar system that will produce 3x as much energy from the same solar footprint by harnessing thermal energy from the sun.
Founded in 2009, AgriTech North produces leafy greens, herbs, and small fruiting crops year-round using hydroponic vertical farming systems that use 90% less water and 60% fewer nutrients compared to conventional farming methods.
