Smartville, an EV battery repurposing company, secured USD 2.65 million in federal and state grants. The grant was a combination of a USD 1.15 million grant from the US Department of Energy's Solar Energy Technology Office (SETO) and another USD 1.5 million from the California Energy Commission. This brings the company's total funding in excess of USD 15.9 million.
Smartville intends to use the funding to further develop its “Smartville 360” battery energy storage system (BESS) that uses second-life EV batteries and solar generation for charging, as well as facilitate its large-scale implementation.
