Microsoft has unveiled its in-house designed AI chips, the Azure Maia 100 AI Accelerator and the Azure Cobalt 100 CPU, as a response to the scarcity of GPUs for AI model development.
Maia 100 is built for training and running AI models, while Cobalt 100 is designed for general-purpose workloads.
Both chips are set to roll out in Azure data centers, initially supporting Microsoft AI services, such as Copilot and Azure OpenAI Service.
