Lilium, an eVTOL jet developer, has expanded its collaboration with InoBat, a Slovakian next-gen battery manufacturer, to build high-performance battery cells for the Lilium Jet.
As such, noBat will manufacture the battery cells at its Volta I and future Volta II facilities in Voderady, Slovakia, with production beginning in early 2024.
The partnership strengthens Lilium's cell production through multiple sourcing and ensures a consistent supply of battery cells for their jet. Additionally, Gotion High-Tech, known for its Unified Cell used extensively in Volkswagen Group's electric vehicles, owns a 25% share in InoBat and will provide resources and expertise to increase production.
Analyst QuickTake: This partnership follows Lilium commencing private sales of its eVTOL jets in the US market in October 2023 , in partnership with EMCJET. Lilium’s jets will be available across the US, with an initial focus on key cities in Texas, including Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas.
