Sapeon Inc., a semiconductor startup backed by South Korea's SK Group, has unveiled a new AI chip (X330) for data centers to compete with NVIDIA's X330 neural processing unit (NPU) for inference, promising improved computing performance and power efficiency compared to its predecessor, the X220.
It is claimed that in comparison to competitors' chips released in the same timeframe, the X330 offers double the computing performance and 1.3x better power efficiency.
Sapeon plans to mass-produce the X330 in H1 2024 through TSMC's seven-nanometer process, supporting large language models and having applications in various industries.
