Crypto gaming layer-1 protocol Saga has secured a further USD 5 million in an extension of its seed funding round led by venture capital firm Placeholder. The round brings the total funds raised for Saga to USD 13.5 million.
The newly raised capital will go toward launching Saga's mainnet, which is planned to go live in January 2024.
Formed in 2021, Saga distinguishes itself from traditional blockchains by enabling the creation of theoretically infinite parallel chains, each of which can be launched immediately for individual applications, thereby enhancing scalability. The protocol's primary focus is on gaming, but it also aims to cater to other use cases. Currently, Saga has nearly 300 projects utilizing its testnet, named "Pegasus."
