Google has unveiled its largest and most advanced AI model, named Gemini. This AI tool will be accessible to developers and enterprise clients through Google Cloud.
Gemini comprises three categories: Ultra, Pro, and Nano, each catering to different needs. Ultra is designed to handle the most complex tasks, Pro is scalable across various responsibilities, and Nano is dedicated to specific tasks and mobile gadgets.
Gemini's Ultra model is notably recognized for surpassing human experts on a massive multitask language understanding benchmark of 57 subjects.
Although currently accessible in English, plans are underway to expand its reach globally, potentially transforming Google's suite of products, including its search engine, ad platforms, and Chrome browser.
Analyst QuickTake: Google emphasizes Gemini’s efficiency, having a faster and more cost-effective performance than previous models, like PaLM. Alongside the model launch, Google unveils the TPU v5p, a new computing system tailored for training and running large-scale AI models. The news comes amidst previous reports that Google postponed its Gemini launch events, rescheduling for January next year due to reported struggles with non-English queries.
