Bureo, a California-based company recycling discarded fishing nets, has raised an undisclosed amount in a Series B funding round led by Toyota Tsusho Corporation, with participation from Mirova, Ocean 14 Capital, Conservation International Ventures, and Susquehanna Foundation.
The funding will be used to expand Bureo's net collection and recycling operation to additional coastal communities worldwide. It will also support the development of an advanced traceability system to provide more transparency in the supply chain. Bureo operates across seven countries in the Americas and is on track to collect over 3.3 million pounds of fishing nets for recycling during 2023.
