OpenAI has entered a deal with Axel Springer, the owner of publications such as Business Insider and Politico, allowing its AI models to be trained on Axel Springer's content for its ChatGPT chatbot.
This partnership also provides ChatGPT users with summaries of Axel Springer's articles, including paywalled content, with proper attributions and links, while Axel Springer receives undisclosed payments.
Analyst QuickTake: OpenAI previously partnered with the Associated Press to obtain news stories to train its models. In November, it also introduced Data Partnerships, a program aimed at collaborating with external organizations to build diverse datasets for training AI models.
