Intel has unveiled a new AI chip named Gaudi3, designed for GenAI and large-scale AI models. The chip is anticipated to be launched in 2024 and represents the culmination of advancements made since Intel's acquisition of Habana Labs, a chip developer, in 2019.
The new Gaudi3 chip is designed to power intensive AI applications, replicating functionality seen in similar products by competitors, like NVIDIA’s H100 and AMD's future MI300X chip.
Additionally, Intel launched Core Ultra CPUs for Windows laptops and PCs, as well as new fifth-generation Xeon server chips. Both have a specialized AI component called neural processing unit (NPU), which can be utilized to accelerate smaller AI programmes.
