TSMC unveils 1.4nm chip development technology ‘A14’ to promote growth amid competition

Product updates

  • TSMC unveiled A14, a 1.4nm manufacturing technology, at the IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting, planning mass production between 2027 and 2028.

  • TSMC's A14 technology represents a significant leap in semiconductor manufacturing, with potential performance improvements over its 3 nm and 2 nm counterparts. The rise of large AI models is driving demand for advanced processes, and TSMC's production capacity is crucial for major AI chip manufacturers like NVIDIA, AMD, Xilinx, and Intel.

  • TSMC faces challenges in maintaining its lead against competitors, emphasizing system-level optimization to fully utilize nodes such as 2 nm and 1.4 nm.
